Our Equipment

The proper selection and employment of hydraulic dredge equipment for a specific site is essential if the project is to succeed. Bull Dredging thoroughly investigates each dredge site prior to determining which dredge model and configuration to employ on your project. Hydraulic dredges come in many configurations and sizes. Dredge types are generally denoted by how it operates and dredge size is denoted by the pump discharge diameter.

Bull Dredging owns and operates portable cutter suction and auger configuration 8” inch hydraulic dredges. The dredges are either spud or cable driven and are designed to be transported to your site overland. They are easily assembled on-site and launched into the water via crane. The maximum draft of our dredges is 4’ feet, thus making them ideal for shallow draft or deep water work.

As a picture is worth a thousand words, Bull Dredging has prepared an Equipment Portfolio that shows our dredges at work. The photographs were taken at numerous project locations and are meant to outline the versatility of our fleet. For viewing, please click here.

  1. The mainstay of our fleet is an 8” inch spud driven cutter suction dredge manufactured by Dredging Supply Company, Inc. This modern piece of equipment is designed specifically for ease in transportion to the jobsite and superb mobility in the water once launched. The spud driven configuration of this dredge makes it ideal to operate in canals, marinas, lakes, mining facilities, fuel and cargo barge slips, and large industrial pond applications. The pump size is a true 8” inch and can accommodate either 8 or 10” inch discharge line. The combination of a high pressure hydraulic system (2500 psi operating norm) with finely tuned motors/pumps, provide for excellent pumping distance and material volume output. It operates in either conventional or swinging ladder modes. Different cutter head configurations can be utilized to accommodate the type of material to be excavated. All operator functions are controlled from within a wheel house cab and the dredge is equipped with a multitude of safety features in compliance with Coast Guard, MSHA and OSHA regulations. When we arrive on your site with our Moray class dredge, you will know you made the right decision with Bull Dredging Inc.

  2. Also in our stable of equipment options are the Ellicott SP 815 and MC 915 Mud Cat dredges. They are 8 by 6 inch, cable driven hydraulic machines that excavate by use of augers. Based on the principle of Archimedean screws, the auger pulls material into the intake mouth and through the pump. The Mud Cat series dredges run off of a harness cable system and are designed for a high volume/low head output of material. They are excellent machines for many industrial pond sludge’s or waste product fines. They can discharge into spoil areas, but are also well suited to use in tandem with dry press operations or baker tanks. Should the pond have a liner, the auger can be outfitted with rubber wheels to protect the integrity of the pond liner. All operator functions are controlled from within a wheel house cab and the dredges are equipped with safety features in compliance with Coast Guard, MSHA and OSHA regulations. Known to us as the “mules” of our fleet, the SP 815 and MC 915 series dredges are ready for your project when you are.
